Thistle Rally

First rally of the season and wouldn’t you believe it snow!!! So on a cold dark Friday morning we set out from Larne hoping that we would get to the rally sight in the Tinto Mountains without me crashing along the way. We were well prepared and even managed to bring the camera. The first 50 miles once we reached Scotland were grand the conditions then rapidly worsened, the rain turned to sleet and finally snow! After a few threats to kill we finally got to the rally sight. We had arrived so early that they weren’t set up yet. Oh well time set up camp and get some blood back into our fingers, camp was set up in record speed so it was a quick trip into the bar for a warm pint before going to sign in. The music on the Friday night was supplied by Black Nasty (Orgi Mcc members) and another really good band but by the time they came on a few drinks had been consumed and there is a few patches in my memory. The hotel put on some breakfast specials which were required to ease my thumping head and nothing like a greasy egg to settle the stomach. The hotel kindly put the rugby on Saturday afternoon so I installed myself beside a radiator and enjoyed the banter. Once again there were 2 bands on the Saturday night along with a rock DJ, the trophies were handed out but I never managed to get any details as Mr Pear Cider was making me awfully sleep so an early-ish was had.
It was a fantastic rally and one that everyone should experience once. There is a 250 limit but it makes it a more intimate affair and since the Forth Valley Mcc spend all weekend feeding you and keeping you topped up with tea/coffee it’s cheap at £15.
